Liberation Lab
With: Aaron Johnson, Laurence Cole, Alyx Somas, Saffire Bouchelion, Danny Revell (Osprey Huffsmith), Sheniqua Trotman, Roberto Rodriguez, Victor Warring, and more!
Sunday, June 29th, 4pm — Wednesday, July 2nd, 7pm
(All meals provided, including Celebratory Dinner on last day)
No matter who you are or how much privilege you have, do you feel a call -- out of necessity or deep longing -- to be a part of a collective, multi-generational, love crew with a liberatory quest to help bring the vision of a better world for all into reality?
If so, we invite you to join us as we explore what social change and an engaged community can be and do now, and in service to future generations.
Imagine being part of a gathering, led mostly by People of the Global Majority (PGM, aka BIPOC) and Trans/gender non-conforming humans, that experiences community somatic self-care, singing together, resource-sharing, embracing life-affirming paradigms while shedding old ones that do not serve, celebratory and recharging ceremonies with all our relations, conflict transformation, and tools for building the physical and social world in which we want to live.
We will be practicing at many levels: personal, interpersonal, systemic and ancestral; because modernity’s all-encompassing institutions and cultural spells have occupied us in all of these ways.
Modernity is the sweet name that conjures all the goodies we enjoy or are promised when we agree to play along with the rules. It almost denies the existence of a shadow. It presents itself as the inevitable result of progress, of enlightened rationality, as the thing that civilized nations do. If you’re still reading this, you’re likely already challenging this story, even as you struggle to liberate yourself from modernity’s intoxicating insistence.
Join us for the three days preceding Cascadia SongRise to explore our desire to creatively (even joyfully!) organize and level-up our collective efforts to bring forth a world that works for all!
Liberation Lab is co-sponsored by:
Affinity-Belonging Initiative, New Culture Institute,
Cascadia Songrise and NFNC Summer Camp West
